I am a marine ecologist in the Joint Doctoral Program in Ecology at San Diego State University and UC Davis, working with Drs. Kevin Hovel and Marissa Baskett. My research applies ecological theory to questions with conservation, management and restoration applications. For my dissertation, I am studying trophic interactions on subtidal reefs in both Southern California and Caribbean Panama. Specifically, I am using laboratory and field experiments as well as mathematical modeling to explore the importance of habitat complexity, size-structured interactions, and fishery harvest on predator-prey interactions and ecological resilience.
